The islands of Sangalaki, Maratua and Kakaban, collectively known as the Derawan Islands, are located off the east coast of Kalimantan (the Indonesian part Borneo). Sangalaki is famous for large aggregations of Manta Rays who use the island’s colourful reefs as a cleaning and breeding ground. Kakaban has a stunning fresh water Jelly Fish Lake fringed by virgin mangrove forest and sheer drop offs and walls that attract schools of Trevally and Barracuda along with the possibility of Hammerheads, Grey Reef Sharks and Oceanic Blacktip Sharks.
