Sea of Cortez

The Sea of Cortez is home to some wonderful diving and underwater encounters. Whale Sharks can be reliably encountered both at Bahia de los Angeles in the North Sea of Cortez and at La Paz Bay in the South Sea of Cortez. This is also the case for Sea Lions found at Isla San Pedro Martir in the North Sea of Cortez and at Los Islotes in the South Sea of Cortez. Also in the South Sea of Cortez you have the chance to see Hammerhead Sharks at El Bajo, Mantas at La Reina, schools of Mobula Rays at Punta Lobos and even night dives with Mobula Rays! Some liveaboard trips to the Sea of Cortez also include diving at Gordo Banks and Cabo Pulmo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can dive with huge schools of Jacks and Bull Sharks! At select times of year there are also liveaboard trips that focus on encounters with Orcas and Mobulas (April-July) and Striped Marlin in Magdalena Bay’s Sardine Run (October-January).
